Finding The Shadow Lover

In the birth chart - to determine what Shadow lover qualities we're most likely to project onto our human, flesh and blood lovers - we first look for:

Planets located in the 7th House
(or within 5-7 degrees of the 7th house cusp)

Example: Let's say that You have the planets Pluto and Uranus located in your 7th house.

Since Pluto and Uranus are located in the "you're so not me" 7th house - you may tend to attract lovers into your life who are powerful, controlling (Pluto) and who are also independent, exciting and undependable (Uranus). You're unconciously seeking out partners who can live out Pluto (control) and Uranus (independence) for you.

What happens if the other person doesn't naturally embody the characteristics of Pluto and Uranus? You will then unconsciously do things and act in ways almost iron-clad guaranteed to draw out the qualities of Pluto (control) and Uranus (independence) in the other person.

Rule of the Psyche 101:
Whichever planetary, archetypal energies in your birth chart that you refuse to "live out" for yourself - the people closest to you will be forced to "live out" for you.

You're giving away the "you're so not me" planets in your 7th house (Pluto and Uranus). You want (and unconsciously demand) the other person to live them out for you. Then, later on, you can commiserate with all your closest friends about how incredibly controlling (Pluto) and undependable (Uranus) your lover was.... and what lousy luck you have when choosing lovers...

Your Mission?
Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to begin "living out" the energies of 7th House Pluto and Uranus for yourself. Gain your own healthy sense of self-control and power (Pluto) and independence (Uranus). That way you'll be well on your way toward stopping the compulsive, destructive pattern of continually meeting Uranus and Pluto (in all the worst ways) in your lovers.

No Planets In The 7th House?
But you say you've got no planets located in the 7th House? Then you look to the Ruling planet of the 7th House and the other planets that the Ruling planet is in close association with.

Example:

You have no planets in the 7th House, but your 7th House cusp is located in Sagittarius. You would then look to the Ruler of Sagittarius, (which is) Jupiter. If Jupiter is, in turn, connected (by aspect) to Neptune and Pluto, then this paints the vivid picture of the "you're so not me" qualities you may tend to project onto your lover.

Your personal sense of:

• joy and enthusiasm (Jupiter)
• bliss and transpersonal love (Neptune)
• ecstasy and transformative power (Pluto)

Yep! All these qualities may be projected onto your lover. And when separated from your lover - this is also the loss you tend to feel most intensely.
